Looked at SN1998S in NGC3877 again. The atmosphere was somewhat
skunky again, as it ws last night. Shot a few 10 second images
of the supernova, nothing worth writing mom about, or posting
here. I primarily adjusted the camera for a warmer environment.
Tracking was good! Next step, remove the large counterweight from
the back of the Dob and make a new rocker box that is taller. This
will reduce the weight of the tube significantly.

Looked at SN1998S in NGC3877. The atmosphere was somewhat skunky. Imaged
Orion and tried the SN. Tried imaging the supernova with Dave's C-8.
The images did not turn out due to the air temp and the camera still
set for a much colder environment.

First lighted an 8" Orion that my friend bought
for his 11 yr old daughter. Went home and looked at SN1998S in NGC3877.
This edge on galaxy is around mag 11.5 or so. The supernova stands out
near one edge. The SN forms completes a "cross" or "square" configuration.
The SN is the second brightest object, somewhere near mag 11.5. Have not watched
one of these since the M81 or NGC4526 SN's.
The weather has been incredibly crappy lately. Rain, more rain usually
followed by cloudy skies and more rain. Prolonged lengths of the above
scenario well represent the weather in this region, for this "El-Nino"
winter.

First lighted an individual that my wife works with. He'd
never looked thru a scope. The conditions were fair but
deteriorating quickly. We observed M42, M81, M82, Crab Nebula
M1, Double Open Cluster, and the Pleaides. Shot several images
of the Orion Nebula, did a naked eye tour or the major constellations.
He enjoyed it immensly and will be back (to get hooked :).
We used the 8 inch Dob on my homemade equi-dob mount.

An 8mm video camera shot of the moon and Aldeberan. I took this
image at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, on my way to visit my wife
and 1 1/2 day old daughter. Looked up, had the camera, and wa-la!
